Action Plan
This action plan describes the activities for creating the SCORM IMU. The plan is based on the ADDIE model of instructional design.
Analysis
A needs analysis was conducted during the month of October 2010 to identify the current level of knowledge, attitudes, skills, and habits (KASH) of the target audience. The analysis involved virtual interactions with members of the target audience, conducting an online survey, and reviewing extant data, specifically discussion threads, posted during the course to elicit KASH and document the findings.
Design
A SCORM IMU will be storyboarded during the month of November. As part of the design phase, formative evaluations will be conducted using a peer in the ETL program and ISDs who work at General Dynamics. The design will be interactive, web-based instruction which will be delivered online and supported with job aids available to students in PDF format. The IMU will be accessible to students who have access to the Internet, and whose computers meet the minimum requirements of:
- Windows XP SP3
- Adobe Reader 9.0
- Internet Explorer 7 or higher
Development
The SCORM IMU will be developed using the online HTML editor Weebly. This free editor incorporates all the basic design elements of a high-quality HTML editor such as placing titles, text, and images on a page. As well, multimedia such as flash, video, and audio can be used to support the instruction, giving students an interactive, engaging learning experience. During the development phase, the instruction will be subjected to an evaluation by a peer in the ETL program as well as ISDs who work at General Dynamics. The perspective gained from the evaluation will be used to improve the instructional content and the interactivity prior to delivery.
Implementation
Implementation will involve delivery to the client, Dr. Milman as a deliverable of EDUC 6405 - Developing Multimedia Materials.
Evaluation
Formative evaluations and peer reviews will be ongoing throughout the project. Feedback gathered from peers and members of the target audience will be incorporated into the instruction to ensure an IMU that is free of grammatical defects, is appealing to the eye, has engaging interaction for the student, and provides factual, accurate content about SCORM and methods used to create content that is SCORM conformant.
The project deliverables will also be evaluated as a whole against a grading rubric by the client, Dr. Milman.
